Lakeside at Canyon Springs Community Events
Lakeside at Canyon Springs is such a neat neighborhood. If you are in the market for a home in a neighborhood where neighbors actually know each other and sometimes even get together for block parties or a place that has the feeling of a small community, this is the right place for you. A few weeks ago, we had a group of about ten middle to high-school aged girls come to our door saying they were playing “Bigger or Better” The object was that they had an item (in this case, a new fancy hair clip), and if we were game, would we trade it for something “bigger or better?” I had never heard of such a thing, but our little girls were so excited they ran around the house looking for something to give these girls. That was such a surprise, but a neat one.
The other night, something even cooler happened. Have you ever heard of being “Booed?” You can look at the website www.beenbooed.com to get the paper outline to do it, but in essence, this is how it went. It was about 8PM last night when someone knocked very loudly on our door. We were surprised to say the least. It didn’t take more than a few minutes to get to the door, but when we did, there was no one there. Instead, there was a pumpkin bucket filled with candy, little coloring books for the kids, a Halloween cake mix, and a few little decorations for Halloween. It was adorable. The gist is that the following night, it was our turn. We’re supposed to make two copies of the “You’ve Been Booed” sign, make a treat, and be sneaky and put it on a neighbor’s door, running away before they see it was us. (You put half of the sign that came with the bucket back on your door so no one gets you twice!) This is just the craziest thing, but it made us laugh and smile. Who wouldn’t want to live in a neighborhood like Lakeside at Canyon Springs?
And in case you want to check out how truly neat it is, Saturday, October 26th starting at 3PM, the Crazy Creek cul-de-sac within the Lakeside at Canyon Springs community is having a pumpkin carving potluck. A moon bounce has been rented for the kids and a $25 gift card will be given for the most awesome pumpkin carved out there! Bring a pumpkin and a chair and your favorite treat and you will see how this neighborhood is growing into something not only beautiful, but fun and truly neighborly, where you really can go and ask your neighbor for that missing cup of sugar!
