San Antonio Ranks High in Job Satisfaction

July 7, 2014 by khproperties Leave a Comment

Job Satisfaction

Job satisfaction is high in San Antonio according to career community site, Glassdoor. The website took a look at the 50 largest cities in America and ranked them based on a survey that looked at employees’ overall satisfaction with their job, compensation and benefits packages, and career mobility. The website also considered other facts such as how many employers were hiring in each city and how employees felt about the overall business outlook in their area. San Antonio ranked #9 on the list, beating out several other Texas cities in the process; Austin, Houston, and Dallas. Austin was the only other Texas city that cracked the top ten, coming in at #10 (Houston and Dallas came in at #21 and #23 respectively).

Unfortunately, Glassdoor also listed the jobs in high demand in each city and for San Antonio, and those are customer service, bartending, and restaurant management. Typically lower paying, less skilled careers. What San Antonio has in job satisfaction, it lacks in better paying, high skilled jobs…although more and more the city is trying to attract companies with those kinds of jobs (and being rather successful with their efforts). It will be interesting to see how these moves affect the San Antonio’s relatively low cost of living and future job satisfaction surveys over the next 10 years or so.
