This weekend in Texas is the ENERGY STAR® Sales Tax Holiday. Starting today, May 25th and running through Monday May 27th, the Tax Holiday gives Texans a chance to buy greener products for their home including air conditioners (priced at $6,000 or less), refrigerators (priced at $2,000 or less), ceiling fans, clothes washers (dryers are not covered because they are not ENERGY STAR® certified), dishwashers, dehumidifiers, and even incandescent and flourescent lightbulbs. Programmable thermostats are also included, but they must contain the ENERGY STAR® rating, they stopped rating them in 2009, so it would only apply to back stock that may be available in some places. Products that are available tax free for the weekend will have the ENERGY STAR® logo on their packaging, labels, or on the appliances. If you’ve been in the market for any of these items, now would be an excellent time to buy and get yourself some more energy efficient models at the same time.
