Michael is a native of San Antonio. He traces his roots back to the 1840s when his great great grandfather came to San Antonio and later served as City Treasurer and the first Postmaster for the new state of Texas. Michael’s father was a well-known architect and his mother and grandmother were prominent and active in civic affairs.
He graduated from Texas Military Institute (class of ’65) and Trinity University (’69 and ’84). In the early 70s he enlisted in the Coast Guard and earned a commendation medal for lifesaving activities during hurricanes in Puerto Rico. The death of his father in 1982 prompted him to pursue a Master’s Degree from Columbia University in Historic Preservation (’86) with a major in planning and a minor in real estate development.
Michael returned to Texas at the start of one of the worst recessions in recent memory which included the savings and loan crisis. Michael followed a professional career as a consultant in planning and programming, living for several years in Washington, DC and later Los Angeles and Sacramento.
He returned to San Antonio in 2000 and earned his real estate license in 2006. He first joined Kimberly Howell when it was San Antonio Avalar back in 2007. The recession of 2009 made him step back little, but he recently decided to return to real estate and Kimberly Howell Properties.
As he said “I have worked for many, many different types of people in all parts of this country and I can say without a second thought that there is no one I would rather work for or with than Kimberly. She is an outstanding leader, a brilliant Realtor and operates at the highest level of integrity of anyone I know. It is indeed an honor to be back in the Kimberly Howell Properties universe.”
He hopes to expand the commercial and farm and ranch markets in the company while helping his fellow agents be successful in whatever way he can.
