Sonterra

Sonterra is a master planned community on the city's northside outside of Loop 1604 that was once a part of the larger Stone Oak community (they separated in 2009). Known for its country club and golf course, Sonterra is composed of several gated communities centered along Huebner Road between Blanco Road and Stone Oak Parkway. With it's incredible access to northside shopping, dining, hospitals, and more, Sonterra remains a popular place for homebuyers seeking suburban convenience along with a more upscale feel. All of the subdivisions are gated and feature a virtual guard system - the guard is centrally located at The Club at Sonterra (located on Stone Oak Parkway where Sonterra Boulevard ends). Some of the neighborhoods sit along the golf course and offer beautiful sweeping views of the greens, while others sit in the sloping hills that begin to take shape as you head northward into Stone Oak.

Sonterra Amenities

Area shops anchor the community, both on the Blanco Road end of Huebner Road and the corners of Stone Oak Parkway and Huebner Road, and give the community a small town feel - you often see neighbors walking to one end or another to pick up a few items or to enjoy the day as they jog, run, or walk their dogs. As Sonterra was once part of the Stone Oak neighborhood, it enjoys the master planned community's look and feel with wide, landscaped, tree filled medians along Huebner Road that are well cared for. This attention to the areas outside of the individual subdivisions' grounds keeps things green and well manicured year round, making for a much more cohesive feel across the neighborhoods.

Area restaurants include Milano Italian Grill, Le Peep, La Doña Mexican Restaurant, Sushi Seven, Thai Chili, India Taj Palace, Trilogy Pizza and Wine Bistro, and Li's Restaurant and Sushi Bar. All of these restaurants are highly rated by locals and are often quite busy during lunch and dinner hours. There are several more casual, quicker fare offerings as well with places like Jersey Mike's, L Taco Mexican Cafe, Taco Cabana, Subway, Firehouse Subs, Double Dave's Pizzaworks, and Sonic. As Sonterra is located within the heart of Stone Oak, there are also many restaurants nearby to fulfill just about any craving.

Area grocery options include nearby locations of Target, HEB, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, and Walmart. In addition, you'll find several great boutique and mom and pop stores in the shopping areas at Stone Oak Parkway and Huebner Roads and the neighborhood is anchored on either end by a Walgreens and a CVS. The Vineyard Shopping Center is just around the corner at Blanco Road and Loop 1604 and The Shops at La Cantera and the myriad of options available along the 281 corridor are just a short drive away. Convenience is certainly a cornerstone of life in Sonterra.

The area has also become famous for its medical center located on Sonterra Boulevard, where both Methodist Stone Oak and North Central Baptist serve the community's hospital needs and a wide array of medical providers and associated services have filled in around these facilities.

Sonterra is maintained by the Sonterra Property Owners Association (POA) and each neighborhood has its own individual HOA to oversee each of the separate subdivisions.

Sonterra is part of the North East ISD and the schools your children will attend will vary by location. Remember, school boundaries change and some schools can be capped at different times, so always check with the district and ask your agent for updated information when considering purchasing a home.
