We’re proud to announce that we have launched www.gardensatgreystone.com, a new neighborhood website focusing on McNair Custom Homes’ The Gardens at Greystone. This website will serve as a source of information about the community, the homes, and the local area for those interested in this neighborhood of forty three Tusan-style garden homes. We are excited to list these homes and showcase them for McNair Custom Homes and hope you’ll take a few moments to check out this new site.

“I want a puppy for Christmas.” – Animal Defense League
During the holidays, many kids ask for puppies and kittens as Christmas gifts. Even the adults get in on the action. This year, we ask you to consider one of the local shelters when thinking about adding new furry family members. One of the local shelters that I have always supported, the Animal Defense League of Texas (ADL as they’re known locally) has always gone above and beyond to help educate the public about San Antonio’s desire to become a “no-kill” city and do truly wonderful work. Whether you’re thinking about adopting a pet or even just want to make a charitable contribution, you can help this wonderful organization. They’re even running special events through December to help some of their animals find “forever homes.” So when your child says “I want a puppy for Christmas.,” please consider adoption from the Animal Defense League or any of the other shelter organizations in and around San Antonio. You can have a peek here if you want to train your dog and puppy. You’ll make the kids smile and save one more animal from the streets.
Full disclosure: one of our clients heads up the Animal Defense League, but that in no way prompted me to write this, in fact, I have written about them on other blogs and my personal Facebook page in the past many times. – Matt

Whole Foods at The Vineyard
Whole Foods Market is set to open their second location in San Antonio at The Vineyard (Blanco and 1604) on September 18th. For those looking for natural, organic, and healthy foods, Whole Foods has been the place to shop since it opened in Austin. The company has grown far and wide since then and each store seems to have more offerings than the last. The new Whole Foods at The Vineyard is slated to have 36,000 square feet and an outdoor patio and is located in the place where the Lack’s furniture store used to be. If other Whole Foods stores are any indication, expect to see the patio become a hot spot for lunch in the area. As HEB has pushed further into organic produce, it will be interesting to see if the new competition will spark lower prices on organics in the local grocery scene.

The Ultimate Cheesecake Bakery
Real estate agents love a good celebration and Kimberly Howell Properties is no different. When it comes to office celebrations, we head to The Ultimate Cheesecake Bakery to satisfy our sweet tooth. I’m not sure how or when Kim Howell discovered this place, but in our office, there is no other place in town that compares.
Don’t let the name fool you, I have yet to even have a slice of cheesecake from The Ultimate Cheesecake Bakery, but if it’s even half as good as their cake and cupcakes, it must be heavenly. Their cakes and cupcakes get high marks for the consistency of the cake itself – moist and packed with flavor. Their “plain” (if you could call them that) chocolate and vanilla cupcakes are absolutely the best in simplicity. For more complex tastes, try the lemon cupcakes (filled with a zesty lemon filling) or the orange creamsicle cupcakes. I have multiple cakes on my personal “must try” list and I intend to get to them as soon as possible.
Next time you’re looking for some decadent deserts, give The Ultimate Cheesecake Bakery a try – you can thank me later. They also do wedding and specialty cakes – so if you have a need, they’ve got the delicious treats you’re looking for.
